Two halfblood calves shown by Coty Compton, of Scheller, Ill. Coty is the brother of ABBB members Leigha and Jeremy Gajewski.
|
The two halfblood Belgian Blue calves are 6 months old and both are sired by Inexes de la Croix de Mer, from Lagantoise. The heifer won the 6 to 12 month British cross class winning over a heifer twice her age and size. The feeder calf steer won the heavy weight feeder calf class but was the lightest calf in his class by about 60 lbs and he went on to win the feeder calf over Grand Champion title at the Jefferson County 4-H Show as well. Our judge which as always is a predominantly Angus judge was very impressed and said he would love to judge them when they are in that 15 to 18 month age bracket, his exact words on the steer calf were " he could be impressive if he holds together". Coty, Leigha, and Jeremy are very proud of their calves. Way to go Coty!!
